The Haunted Mile: 35 Riders, Twisty Roads, and One Funky Chicken

October 31, 2026 | Next Mile Moto

What a Halloween ride! The Haunted Mile is officially in the books, and we couldn't have asked for a better turnout. We had 35 riders join us, including 10 new riders experiencing Next Mile Moto for the first time.

We spent the day enjoying twisty roads through northern New Jersey, beautiful fall scenery, Halloween costumes, and plenty of laughs.

Halloween on Two Wheels

We encouraged everyone to wear costumes, and some of our riders really got into it. I showed up as Tigger, and my wife came dressed as Winnie the Pooh. We also had the Terminator, Michael Myers, Cookie Monster, a skeleton, pumpkin heads, and someone wearing what I think was a death mask. I'm still not sure what that one was supposed to be!

And then there was Christian Carmona, our Funky Chicken.

Somewhere along the way, we started calling him Frisby Chicken. For those familiar with the Colombian restaurant chain Frisby and its chicken mascot, you know exactly what we're talking about!

By popular vote of the riding community, Christian Carmona won Best Costume as the Funky Chicken, also known as Frisby Chicken. Congratulations, Christian! You definitely earned that one.

Great Roads and an Unexpected Lunch Stop

The twisty roads were a big hit. Hearing everyone talk about how much they enjoyed the route made all the planning worthwhile.

Our original lunch destination was Blairstown Diner, famous for its appearance in the original Friday the 13th movie. Unfortunately, the diner was packed, and getting 35 riders seated wasn't going to happen.

Luckily, we had a backup just up the road: Buck Hill Brewery. And it turned out to be even better than we expected. Good food, a great atmosphere, and plenty of time for everyone to hang out and talk about the ride. Sometimes Plan B works out better than Plan A.

10 New Riders, 35 Riders Together

One of the highlights was welcoming 10 new riders. Seeing familiar faces come back is great, but seeing new people show up, introduce themselves, and become part of the group is what makes this community special.

When we started Next Mile Moto, we wanted a place where anyone could show up, enjoy great roads, meet other riders, and feel welcome. No egos, no drama, just people who love riding motorcycles.

To our new riders, welcome! We hope we'll see you again soon. And to everyone who keeps coming back, thank you for helping make this community what it is.

A special thanks to Alberto, Donnie, and William for helping keep the ride organized and making the day another success.

Until the Next Mile

Four completed rides, hundreds of miles, and a community that continues to grow.

35 riders. 10 new faces. Great twisties. Halloween costumes. One unforgettable Frisby Chicken.

Thanks to everyone who spent Halloween with us. See you on the next mile.
